Character Modelling for Games

Right, gotten down to some texturing, if you've seen my artwork for my character 'Shoda' in previous posts, here is the result of my labours:

This is the character with a normal map and wireframe applied so the geometry is visible.

And this is the character with it's various information (size, textures) shown. It hasn't always been fun, skinning the character and posing it was a right pain, but overrall it's been a fun experience seeing something like this go from pen and paper to full 3D model.

While I'm here, I may as well post one of my buildings (my favourite) for my Environment Modelling module. I couldn't resist adding some lights and rendering it, to give it a spooky feel!

Warlords of the Seas ahead

More art inspired by One Piece! It's just so good days, really makes my week.

This is some more inkwork with a pretty angry Luffy and 3 menacing Pirate Warlords (L-R: Bartholomew Kuma, Donquixote Doflamingo and Marshall D. Teach, otherwise known as Blackbeard)

I also got around to colouring my picture of Ace in my University's swanky MacOSX labs full of Wacom tablets. He looks a bit worse for wear, huh? It's a bit messy, but I whacked it out in about an hour and a half because I have limited time these days :( Second Year Uni is hard -_-

Portgas D. Ace

A piece regarding the latest chapters in my favourite manga, One Piece. Its an epic adventure manga thats been running for 10 years, so far it has 500 chapters, and has a very unique style to it. I hate standard generic anime styles with big eyes, so the art style is very refreshing. And best of all, it's about pirates!

Animation character in colour

There's more marks on offer in my animation module for designs in colour so I went over my characters sketches in photoshop, check it!

Also, the front and side views of him so I can edit him in 3DS Max using Biped:

Character Modelling Artwork

For my character modelling module I decided to use a character I'd had in my head from the summer.
These are the original sketches and ideas:

And this is the design blueprint for modelling the character, with front, back and side views.

Animation character sketches

Here's the preliminary sketches and ideas for my 'Animation for Games' module. I wanted to design a sort of tough guy punk with exaggerated arm. I call him 'Bruce Bareknuckles'!
